My Homeland

Written in 1934 by Palestinian poet Ibrahim Touqan only to become the unofficial national anthem for Palestine.
Music composed by Muhammad Fleifel
"My Homeland"

Dear Sari ..
I would like to say that your blog is really impressive, but I would like to draw your attention that this is the Iraqi national anthem not the palestenian one!

thx

Dear Iraqi guy in the USA.
I do realize that after the fall of the Ba\ath regime in Iraq, the Iraqi national anthem was changed to Mawtini, the former Palestinian national anthem.
This poem was composed by a Palestinian poet (Ibrahim Tuqan) during the british mandate, and served as the Palestinian (Un)-official national anthem for a very long time. Since Fatah took control of few parts of the West Bank, the anthem was changed accordingly to (Fida'i), which to me represent the aspirations of a certain political movement, and would change as soon as that political movement changes, exactly as was the case in the former Iraqi national anthem. This said, most Palestinians still feel "Mawtini" is their national anthem, since it was the case until the Palestinian Authority decided to change it, and to me, it will always not only remain as the Palestinian National Anthem, but the entire Arab world national Anthem.
Hope this helped you a bit :)

Dear Sari(cito)!
Thx for sharing these information,Yes and I read abt the origin of this anthem more and it turned out that it was used in Iraq and Palesitne concomitantly as (the de facto national antheme)since 1934 too be recognized later on in Syria and Algeria to support Palestine,so we can say that it was the former (co Iraqi-Palestenian anthem)!
Hoping the one day we all sing the same anthem (now its practically a dream though with all this turmoil in the region)..I hope everything is okay in Palestine .
